Ruth Caldwell

Ruth Evelyn Russell Caldwell, age 85, went to be with her Lord, on Friday, March 21, 2014 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Celia Jane Massie Russell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Wood Brown; two brothers, Walter, Jr. and Mark Russell; and one sister, Florence Russell. Ruth will always be remembered for her caring and loving spirit. She loved spending time in her flowers, camping with her family at Cataloochee, and cooking delicious meals. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Marshall Caldwell; one daughter, Sandra Wood Morgan of Canton; one son, Danny Ray Wood, Sr. of Bethel; four sisters, Irene R. Smathers of Canton, Shelby R. Moore of Hazelwood, Delma Sue Caldwell of Waynesville, and Doris R. Hall and her husband, Dennis, of Canton; three brothers, Samuel Russell and his wife, Ruth, of Bethel, Bobby Ray Russell and his wife, Loretta, of Canton, and Billy V. Russell and his wife, Myrtle, of Waynesville; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews that loved her dearly. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25 2014 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Kristopher Estep and Reverend Charles Dean officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
