Ruth Cope

September 15, 1930 — December 19, 2007

Ruth Ball Cope, age 77, died Wednesday, December 19, 2007, at her residence. She was a native of Buncombe County and the daughter of the late Marion and Cora Jean Padgett Ball. She was preceded in death by nine siblings. She was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Cope was a former lifeguard at Malvern Hills and worked at Appalachian Hall. She was the youngest of 11 children. Ruth was a loving devoted mother and homemaker. She is survived by two daughters Mitzie G. Cope of Waynesville and Denise Cope Finger and her husband, Tommy, of Maggie Valley; two sons, Jeffery Senne and his wife, Michelle, of San Francisco, CA and Randy J. Cope and his wife, Micky, of Waynesville; a sister, Mildred Cowan of Canton; five grandchildren; Holly Harmon, Patric Lachapelle, Kurt Cope, and Justin and Jared Senne. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, December 21, 2007 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Tommy Carlisle and Reverend Ricky Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the residence of her son, Randy Cope at 210 Cope Road in the Stamey Cove community. Memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
