Ruth Cunningham

Waynesville-Ruth Medford Cunningham, age 79, of 65 Church Street, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2006 at her residence. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Ruben E. and Ola Scates Medford. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Hugh Cunningham who died in 1991; three sons, James Hugh Cunningham, Jr. and Fredrick Carlton Cunningham and Joseph Cunningham; and a sister, Willie Mae Medford Price. She was an inspector for Glenn L. Martin in Baltimore, MD and was a foster grandparent in Haywood County. Ruth loved to travel and dance and was a member of Allens Creek Baptist Church. She is survived by three brothers, Claude Medford, of Waynesville, Dr. Robert J. Medford and his wife, Nancy, of Nebo, NC, and James Medford and his wife, Barbara, of Hendersonville; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2006 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Eddie Deitz officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home.
