Ruth Daniel

Clyde - Ruth Trantham Medford Daniel, age 92, formerly of Broad Street died Tuesday, April 05, 2005 at the Brian Center in Waynesville. She was a native of Madison County and had resided most of her life in Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late John and Polly Plemmons Trantham. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Amos Medford who died in 1968 and Dan Daniel who died in 1998; a son Joseph H. Medford who died in 1993; two brothers Wilson and Furman Trantham; four sisters, Beulah Norman, Virginia, Nettie and Reva Trantham. She was a member of Clyde Central United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir. She was employed by Winners in Canton, Hales in Waynesville and John Carroll in Asheville where she retired at the age 77. Mrs. Daniel was active in politics when her husband, Amos Medford, was the mayor of Clyde. She was active in the P.T.A. with her children and loved poetry and reading the Bible and the Upper Room. She is survived by a son, John D. Medford of Elizabethton, TN; six grandchildren, Mitchell E., Norman A., Vincent D. and Nicholas Medford, Melody Cratty, and Lorralie Rhinehart; five great-grandchildren Travis, Tracy and Tiffany Wright and Amy and Austin Medford. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2005 at the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with the Reverend Randy Tingle and Doug Love officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Medford Cemetery.
