Ruth Diear

Ruth Neal O'Diear, age 80, formerly of Henson Cove, died Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. She was a native of Towns Co., Ga and had lived most of her life in Haywood County. She was a daughter of the late Thomas and Callie Kimsey Neal and was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Clay, Maurice and Fain "Shorty" Neal. She was an active member of Spring Hill Baptist Church where she served as Sunday school teacher. She was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Getter O'Diear of Canton, one daughter Gerry O'Diear Kelly and her husband Pat of Canton, two sons Jimmy O'Diear and his wife Diane of Easley, SC and Tony O'Diear of Canton, three sisters Blon Grogan and Alice Donaldson, both of Canton and Nell Thompson of Asheville, two brothers Bill Neal of Franklin, NC and Charles Neal of Canton, 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 11, 2004 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with Pastor Tom Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Newfound Road. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
