Waynesville, Ruth Anders Wilson, age 98, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Haywood Lodge and Rehabilitation.
A native of Haywood County, Ruth was the daughter of the late Lum Culbertson and Lona Rachel Kuykendall Anders. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Taylor Wilson, Jr., who passed in 1983. Ruth was the last surviving member of 11 children in her family. Ruth was a graduate of Haywood Technical Institute in the school’s first graduating class of licensed practical nurses. Upon graduation, Ruth was employed as a nurse with Haywood County Hospital. Following her career at the hospital, Ruth became a private caregiver to many families. Ruth’s other interests were playing the piano and singing, gardening, quilting and studying her Bible. Ruth’s mission field was truly caring for her family as well as others.
Ruth is survived by three daughters, Bonnie Beck, and her husband, James, of Waynesville, Peggy Rogers, and her husband, Earl, of Waynesville and Reba Stanley, of Waynesville; one son, Terry Wilson, of Waynesville; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Haywood Lodge for their compassionate care for their mother and kindness towards the entire family.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Greenhill Cemetery with Reverend Greg Cullen officiating.
The care of Mrs. Wilson has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
