Ruth Davis

Ruth Furness Davis, age 83, died Thursday, April 16, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Leola Schenck Furness. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Leroy Davis, who died in 1982. Ruth was a former organist for the Canton Presbyterian Church of which she had been a member. She was co-owner of Gold Dot Foods of Asheville. She is survived by one son, Roger William Davis and his wife, Jennifer, of Hendersonville; one daughter, Terri Woodhouse of Weaverville; and four grandchildren, Adams Davis, William, Paul, and Jacob Woodhouse. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Old Clyde Road with Reverend Clyde Metcalf officiating.
