Ruth Green

Waynesville, Ruth Ledford Green, age 89, of Brown Avenue, passed into the arms of her Savior on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 surrounded by her family. Born on January 15, 1923 at Sunburst, North Carolina to Jerry Lloyd Ledford and Emma Mintz Ledford. She was married to Buddie Green for 68 years, who passed away on September 7, 2009. She was also predeceased by her brothers, John Henry Ledford and James Wilburn Ledford, and a baby sister, Zona Adeline Ledford. She retired from Haywood County Hospital in 1978 with 20-years service as a physical therapy assistant and was the oldest member of Hazelwood Church of God. Ruth raised the neighborhood, loved to can and bake, and loved her extended family. She is survived by two daughters, Ruth Haskett and her husband, Wade, and Patricia Palleva and a special family friend, Gregg Palmer, all of Waynesville; one son, James "Bud" Green and his wife, Patti, of Canton; five grandsons and one granddaughter; five great-grandsons and two great granddaughter; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as best friend, Ella Mae Maney; and life-long friend, Lucille Hall. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2012 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Johnny Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers and great-grandsons as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home, and at other times, the family will be at the family residence at 994 Brown Avenue.
