Ruth Hannah

"In Loving Memory" Canton - Ruth Smith Hannah, age 96, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at her daughter's residence in Lavonia, Georgia. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Harrison and Teeny Mae Russell Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her faithful husband, Ben Henry Hannah, who passed on July 25, 2007; five sisters, Edith James, Dortha Clark, Grace Haney, Zora Haynes, and Ola Trantham; four brothers, Earl, J.D., Willie, and Hugh Smith. Ruth was the picture perfect example of a true homemaker. She was a wonderful cook and always made sure her family and friends never went hungry. Ruth enjoyed canning and loved to share the fruits of her labor with others. She will be remembered for being a wonderful, loving, and thoughtful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always put her family first. Ruth was a devoted member of Mountain View Church of God. She is survived by a daughter, Benalee H. Stuart of Lavonia, Georgia; a son, Harold Dean Hannah and his wife, Barbara Jean, of Candler; a sister, Shirley Dowdle and her husband, Thad, of Hendersonville; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Smith of Clyde; three grandchildren, Michael Pitts and his wife, Andrea, Terry Hannah and his wife, Kelly, and Randy Hannah and his wife, Jennifer; four great-grandchildren, Angie King and her husband, Brad, Macey and Garrett Hannah, and Connor Hannah; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2015 at Mountain View Church of God with the Reverend Bobby Brooks, Reverend Terry Meeks, and Reverend Herman Toney officiating. Entombment will follow at The Horizon at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
