Ruth Harris

Candler - Ruth Wright Harris, age 99, of 743 Justice Ridge Road died Monday, April 16, 2007 after a short illness. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Kate Justice Wright. She was also preceded in death by her husband Albert W. Harris, who died in 1996, to whom she was married for 52 years; three sisters, Helen Wright, Nell Sams, and Virginia Shook, and two brothers, Frank and George Wright. She was a retiree of American Enka Corporation with 41 years of service. Ruth was the oldest active member of Snow Hill United Methodist Church and was church secretary for 50 years. She is survived by two sisters, Lucille Bradford and Blanche Fletcher; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Daryl, Debbie, Erin and Wesley Crouse. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2007 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Molly Tyson officiating. Burial will follow at Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Candler. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Snow Hill United Methodist Church Fund, 84 Snow Hill Church Road, Candler, NC 28715.
