Waynesville—Ruth Mae Putnam Jackson, age 86, of Big Cove Road, died on Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Marion and Maggie Green Putnam. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gabbie Jackson, who died in 1980; one daughter, Beth Ann Bolden; one sister, Belle Ballard; and five brothers, Jack, Frank, Clyde, Charlie, and Noah Putnam. She worked for Wellco Enterprises for 27 years and was a member of Grandview Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Doris Jackson Hendricks and her husband, Richard, of Canton; one brother, Lloyd Putnam of Waynesville; and two granddaughters, Janet Hendricks Medford, her husband, Keith, and their children, Samantha and Gabriella, all of Canton and Margaret Bolden Smith, her husband, Brian, and their children, Chloe, Nora, and Sean, all of Fishers, IN. Ruth was a loving sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews and will be missed by many. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2008 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Wayne Willett, Reverend Phillip Wyatt, and Keith Medford officiating. Burial will follow at Buchanan Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Wyatt, Charles and Bill Putnam, Bobby Ballard, Leonard and Dale Slaughter, and Jeremy and Shannon Messer. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday evening at the funeral home.
