Ruth Patrick

Ruth Hall Patrick, age 70, of the Dutch Cove Community died Friday, December 22, 2006, at Haywood Lodge and Retirement Center in Waynesville. She was a native of Clay County and the daughter of the late Albert and Abby Lee Setzer Hall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest "Bub" Patrick, who died in 1982; a sister, Claudine Fish; and a brother, Carey Hall. She was a member of Dellwood Baptist Church. Ruth's life revolved around the church and her family. In the prime of her life, she was an active member of Dutch Cove Baptist Church where she volunteered with the youth, Vacation Bible School, nursery, and Sunday School. She also loved to camp and fish with her husband, Bub. She is survived by a daughter, Elaine Buchanan and her husband, Bruce, of Waynesville; a son, Scotty Patrick and his wife, Ginger, of Bethel; a sister, Rebecca Rose and her husband, Robert, of Candler; a uncle, D. C. Hall of Canton; her mother-in-law, Connie Patrick of Canton; four grandchildren, Amy O'Riley, Aaron Carver, and Samantha and Nathaniel Patrick as well as five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 24, 2006, at the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Wayne Willett, Reverend Bobby Rogers, and Reverend Tracy Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of her daughter, Elaine Buchanan. Memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
