Ruth Plott

Skyland-Ruth Giles Bowman Plott, age 86, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at home where she resided with her husband for 50 years. She was the daughter of the late Ira and Cora Ellen Bowman. Born in Buncombe County, she lived her childhood in Greeneville, TN before returning to Buncombe County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Haywood Plott, who died in 2003 and a brother, Max Bowman. Ruth was a kindergarten teacher at Skyland United Methodist Church where she was a member of over 50 years and taught Sunday-School. She belonged to a local garden club and enjoyed making quilts. Ruth was active volunteer in the Cub and Boy Scouts. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 on Saturday, December 23, 2006 at Skyland United Methodist Church in Skyland with James White officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church. An additional service will be held later that afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. A private interment will be held at Green Hill Cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Jonathan Plott and his wife, Diane, of Columbia, MD and David Plott and his wife, Judi, of Youngsville, NC; and two grandchildren, Nicholas and Jason Plott.
