Ruth Rector

Clyde, Ruth Price Rector, 82, of 48 Tranquility Heights, Hyder Mountain community, died Monday, November 30, after a two and one-half year illness. A Haywood County native, she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Lura Davis Price of Fines Creek. She retired from the Maggie Valley Country Club as comptroller for more than 20 years, then went back to work at the Waynesville Country Club where she retired after more than 10 years. With her late husband of 56 years, Jack Rector, she was co-owner of Hyder Mountain Limousin Farm. She was an avid reader and crossword puzzle worker and a master seamstress and quilter. A member of the Fincher's Chapel United Methodist Church, she was very active when younger, serving on a number of boards and committees as well as teaching Sunday School and being president of the United Methodist Women. She was a volunteer for a number of school and community groups. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Milton and Estal Price. Surviving are two daughters, Jackie Bolden and her husband Gene of Hyder Mountain, Clyde; Martina Lawson of Hudson, Fl. and a son, Ned Rector and his wife Martha of Waynesville. She is survived by six grandchildren, Dana Bolden and his wife Sharon, Michelle Quick, Timothy Rector and his wife Susan, Chris Elliott, Eric Bolden and his wife Kimberly, and Alisha Rector. She is survived by five great grandchildren: Brianna Rector, Mathew Bolden, Shelby Quick, Dawson Elliott and Kristian Rector. Her family—especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren—were the joy of her life. She is also survived by two sisters, Lettie Joiner and Julia Wiley and one brother, Medford Price and several special nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Fincher's Chapel United Methodist Church on Wednesday, December 2 at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Katherine (Kittie) Crain and Dana J. Bolden officiating. Grandsons and great grandsons will be pallbearers. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Fincher's Chapel Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorials be made to Fincher's Chapel United Methodist Church or its cemetery fund.
