Ruth Reece

Canton, formerly of the Bethel Community - Ruth Chambers Reece, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Loner and Estes Warren Chambers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Algie Reece; three infant sons, Randall, Joel, and Derrick Reece; one granddaughter, Sonja Stansbury; and thirteen siblings. Ruth was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and assisting in the church nursery.

She is survived by five daughters, Cheryl Clark of Lexington, S.C., Gail Estep and her husband, Doug, of Waynesville, Karla Thompson and her husband, Richard, of Lexington, S.C., Darla Moore and her husband, Donnie, of Maggie Valley, and Sherry Martin and husband, Dr. Bartoo Martin, of Asheville; one son, Dewayne Reece and his wife, Wanda, of Clyde; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Riverside Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Frazier, Reverend Dr. Mike Odom, and Reverend Kris Estep officiating with soloist Reverend Tracy Smith. Burial will follow at Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. prior to the services at the church.
