Ruth Sharpe

Waynesville, Ruth Downs Sharpe, age 67, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Smoky Mountain Healthcare and Rehab Center. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late James Carmal and Ruby R. Haney Downs and was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Downs. Ruth enjoyed fishing and working in her garden, as well as canning and freezing the vegetables she had grown. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Sam Sharpe; two sons, James Heatherly and his wife, Tabitha of Elberton, Georgia and Steve Heatherly of Waynesville; and five grandchildren, Cody, Trace, Karli, and Kelsey Heatherly and Cariss Sellers. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Millard Grant officiating.
