Ruth Taylor

"Gran" Canton – Ruth Murdock "Gran" Taylor, 91, of Skyline Drive, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at CarePartners Hospice Solace Center in Asheville. She was a daughter of the late William Ira and Betty Malone Murdock. Ruth was a native of Alamance County, but had lived most of her life in Haywood County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Fain Taylor, who died in 2005; and 3 sisters, Marie Strickland, Carleen Hutchinson, and Etta Murdock. Ruth worked at Maxway of Canton. She is survived by a daughter, Helen Messer of Canton; and two grandchildren, Treagon and Mica. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Ricky Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, perform an act of kindness for someone.
