Ruth Vance

Canton-Ruth Ellen Burnette Vance, age 85 of Sonoma Road, died Friday, June 27, 2003 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was the daughter of the late "Ras" and Elsie West Burnette. She was the wife of the late Henry R. Vance who died March 1, 2002. Mrs. Vance retired from American Enka with 25 years of service and was renowned for her cake baking. She was the last surviving child of seven in her family.

She is survived by one daughter and her husband, Glenda and Max Burnette of Canton, two sons, Doug and Johnny Vance, both of Canton, 4 grandchildren; Sharon Guerriero, Dewayne and Allan Burnette and Marsha Stacy and 8 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2003 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Reverend Naomi King officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:45 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at the home of Max and Glenda Burnette, 367 Reed Cove Road, Canton, NC 28716.
