Ruth Williams

Waynesville, Ruth M. Williams, age 94, of Grandview Circle, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014 at her residence. A native of Calhoun County, Mississippi she was the daughter of the late Dana and Joyce Johnston McKibben. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard J. Williams, who died in 2003; a sister, Kate Kenright and a brother, Max McKibben. Ruth taught World History and Humanities at Waynesville Township High School and Tuscola High School. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Waynesville, where she taught Sunday school. She is survived by a sister, Martha Joyce Smith; daughters, Ruth Anne Moody and her husband, Fred, of Bryson City and Sarah Claire Williams of Lansdale, Pennsylvania; a son, Howard J. Williams, Jr. and his wife, Susan, of College Station, Texas; four grandchildren, Henry Moody and his wife, Lara, Dana Cole Leonard and her husband, Jeff, Genie Williams and Arthur Williams; and one great-grandchild, Mackenzie Cole Leonard. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at First United Methodist Church of Waynesville with Reverend Sanford L. Giles, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
