Ruth Holland Wills, age 87, of the Newfound community, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2013 at her residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Couch Henry and Ida Phillips Holland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Randolph Wills, who died in 2010; a son-in-law, Phil Garland, who died in 2010; two brothers; and two sisters. Ruth retired from Champion International with 46 years of service and was a member of Plains United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Oakleaf Chapter #81, for over 50 years. She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Wills Garland and Andrea Wills Jackson and her husband, Jimmy, all of Canton; and three grandchildren, Clayton Garland and his wife, Rachel, Casey Garland, and Captain Jonathan Jackson and his wife, Melissa. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Plains United Methodist Church with the Reverend Ryan Snider officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. At other times, the family will be at the home of Sandra Garland, 59 Sunset Heights in Canton.
