Ruth Wood

Waynesville-Ruth Ona Bridges Wood, 75, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, August 07, 2005, surrounded by her family, at her residence. She was a native of Robbinsville. The daughter of the late Richmond P. and Nannie Raby Bridges. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who looked forward to spending time with her family. She was a devoted Christian woman who was a faithful prayer warrior for everyone and enjoyed listening to gospel music. She loved cooking and working in flowers. She was a member of Calvary Road Baptist Church where she attended regularly until her health deteriorated and she retired from Dayco in 1991. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 1/2 years, the Reverend Roy Wood, who died in 2003. A son-in-law Eddie J. Johnson and a sister Hazel Bridges. She is survived by, two daughters; Carolyn Davis and her husband Steve, Sharon Johnson Franks and her husband Gary, both of Waynesville; a son, Rick Wood and his wife Erni, of Mills River; two sisters, Mildred Burnette of Canton and Dot Galloway, of Waynesville; two brothers, Carl Bridges and his wife Betty of Waynesville and Lloyd "Bud" Bridges and his wife Sandy of Bryson City; five grandchildren, Angie Ballance of Charlotte, Wendy Rogers, Robin Henry, Chad and Kevin Johnson all of Waynesville; three great-grandchildren, Travis Henry, Walker Ballance and Max Rogers; five step-grandchildren and six step-greatgrandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on August 10, 2005 at Calvary Road Baptist Church with the Reverend J.D. Grant, Reverend Mike Leslie and Reverend Darrell Webb will officiate. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. Deacons of the church will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville, where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made, as she requested, to the Calvary Road Baptist Building Fund, 77 Sutton Loop, Waynesville, NC 28786.
