Sallie Cutshaw Mintz, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2024. She was surrounded by her loving family at Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehab. Sallie was born on July 4, 1942, in Haywood County. She was the daughter of Truman Cutshaw and Mae Messer Cutshaw.
Sallie was a hardworking and fair individual who demonstrated great work ethic throughout her life. She had a deep love for her family and cherished spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. Sallie enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable garden, finding solace in nature's beauty. She also found great joy in trout fishing.
Sallie is preceded in death by her loving husband Don Charles Mintz who passed away in 1998. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Truman & Mae Messer Cutshaw; two sisters Jean Rose and Brenda Houser; a brother Butch Cutshaw and two grandchildren James Mariah Mintz and Jackson Robert Mintz.
Sallie is survived by three daughters Donna Rose, Martha Putnam (Charlie), and Melissa Queen (David). Additionally, she is survived by three sons Charles Mintz (Patsy), John Mintz (Susan), and Martin Mintz. Her surviving siblings include one sister Hazel Surret and one brother John Cutshaw (Shirley). Sallie's legacy is carried on by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held to honor Sallie's memory on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services of Waynesville. A funeral service will take place the following day on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, starting at 1:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church, situated at 5868 Pigeon Rd, Canton, NC 28716. Burial will follow the services at Bethel Community Cemetery.
