Sallie Wright

Canton-Sallie Mae Hipps Wright, age 92, died Friday, January 28, 2005 at Pigeon Valley Nursing Home. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late James Baxter and Mae Chapman Hipps. She was the wife of the late George Joseph Wright who died in 1982. She retired from American Enka and was a member of Rockwood United Methodist Church. She is survived by a brother Robert Reynolds Hipps of Canton and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2005 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with Reverend Steve Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Rockwood United Methodist Church, 288 Crabtree Mountain Road, Canton, NC 28716.
