Salma Hill

Clyde-Salma "Sam" McCracken Hill, age 92, of the Crabtree Community, died on Monday, January 08, 2007at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the Charles Lafayette and Lillie McCracken Hill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight sisters, Grace Giles, Essie Best, Mattie Medford, Bennie Mae Noland, Leola Sanford, Cecile Best, Lucille Crawford, Fannie McCracken; and three brothers, Charles, Edwin, and Wallace Hill. He was a supervisor in the Rayon Division of American Enka Corporation for 38 years. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Quaye Elizabeth Justice Hill; a son, Carroll "Gene" Hill and his wife, Joan, of Clyde; a daughter, Freda Hill, of Clyde; a foster daughter, Novella Wood Rogers and her husband, David; three grandchildren, Eugenia Moore and her husband, Richard, of Clyde, Ricky Hill and his wife, Sherry, also of Clyde, and Jennifer Frizzell and her husband, J.D., of Sylva; two foster grandchildren, Kristy and Harold Rogers; and three great grandchildren, Ernie and Mary Hill and Samuel Moore. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Rock Springs Baptist Church with Reverend Charlie Simpson, Reverend Billy Ferguson, and Reverend Jesse Hollingsworth officiating. Burial will follow at Upper Crabtree Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday prior to services at the church.
