Waynesville, Sam Cary Anderson, Jr., age 85, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Autumn Care of Waynesville.
A native of Georgia, he was a son of the late Sam and Blanche Keanum Anderson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Nations Anderson, who died in 2019; a sister; and five brothers. Sam proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp, retiring as Staff Sergeant after 20 years of service. He worked as a shop foreman for RMC-Allied Concrete Company from which he retired. Sam was a Mason and member of the Grand Lodge of Georgia and loved fishing and gospel singing. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Dillsboro.
Sam is survived by a brother-in-law, Eugene Nations, of Canton, Georgia; nephew, Gary Nations, of Cartersville, Georgia; and a close friend, Brenda Jones (Henry), of Whittier, North Carolina.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dale Wheeler officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Nations Creek Cemetery. Due to Covid-19, all protocols and mandates are requested to be followed, including mask. The service will be live streamed and will be accessible through Mr. Anderson’s obituary on Wells Funeral Home website to facilitate the ongoing focus on community safety and health.
The care of Mr. Anderson has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes.
