Sammy Underwood

Waynesville, Sammy Lee Underwood, 84, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2020 at Mission Memorial Hospital.

Sammy was born to the late Jack and Mary Long Underwood . In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Alice Underwood; a son, Dale Underwood; and a sister, Patricia Bradbury. Sammy was a dedicated employee at the Rock Quarry on Allens Creek, where he worked as Scalemaster and as a truck driver. He also enjoyed watching Western movies and loafering. He attended James Chapel Baptist Church.

Sammy is survived by a daughter, Mary Stevens, and her husband, Mike, of Canton; a brother, Mack Underwood, and his wife, Karen, of Aiken, SC; two grandchildren, Michael Stevens, and his wife, Sheena of Canton,  and Samantha Burnette, and her husband, Bryan of Candler; and two great-grandchildren, Brantley and Ella; and also a special friend, Carolyn Goble.

A private Funeral Service was held at Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville.
