Samuel Hill

Waynesville, Samuel Roe "Brother" Hill, age 66, of Hill Farm Lane, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma, Alabama. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Roe and Elizabeth Ruff Hill. Sam was a member of Green Valley Baptist Church. He retired from Norfork Southern Railroad as a crane operator in 1982. Sam was an avid reader and camper, enjoyed working, farming fruits, vegetables and raising livestock, and his love was spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Margaret Evelyn Overman Hill; one daughter, Katherine Marlene Hill, of Kingsport, TN; one son, Alan Hill, and his wife, Brooke, of Waynesville; two sisters, Mary Sisk, and her husband, Doug, and Linda Buchanan, and her husband, Steve, all of Waynesville; four grandchildren, Morgan and Meagan Burke and Tanner and Lily Hill; and twenty-three nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Green Valley Baptist Church with Reverend John H. Swanger, III, Reverend Johnny Swanger and Reverend Todd Cole officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be Craig Tucker, Allen Setzer, Chris, Chan and Tommy Chandler, Tony, and Jason Bianucci and Tanner Hill.
