Samuel Roark Hoey

Samuel Roark Hoey, born on July 30, 1938, in Henderson County, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Mission Health in Asheville, North Carolina. He was a cherished, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness.

Samuel is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Sharon Pou Hoey; a daughter, Bess Hoey Rickman, and a son, Joseph Roark Hoey, both of Candler. Samuel found immense joy in his role as a grandfather to two precious grandchildren, Melissa Marie Mijares and Samantha Dale Urbina, and he was a proud great-grandfather to four great-grandchildren: Maxwell, Matthew, Samantha, and Maverick.

Samuel was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Roark Hoey, Jr. and Ruth Moore Hoey. Their memories will always be a part of the warmth and affection he shared with those around him.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2024 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Melissa Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. 

Samuel Roark Hoey will be remembered not only for his deep love for his family but also for the kindness and integrity he exhibited throughout his life. His spirit will continue to resonate through the lives he touched.

 The care of Mr. Hoey has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
