Sandra Brackett

Waynesville, Sandra "Sandy" Kay Brackett, age 62, of 18 Daffodil Drive, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at her residence. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Marlor and Amelia Morgan Brackett. She was a 1969 graduate of Pisgah High School and received her nursing degree from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. She also was a former employee of the VA Medical Center in Dublin, Georgia and Cone Hospital in Greensboro. She also was employed for 38 years at Memorial Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida before retiring in 2010. Sandra enjoyed cross stitching, quilting, and other crafts and was an avid reader. She is survived by three brothers, Arnold Brackett and his wife, Jane, of Waynesville, and Mike Brackett and Bruce Brackett and his wife, Amelia, of Asheville; an uncle, Frank Morgan; one aunt, "Tim" Brackett; four nieces and one nephew; two great nephews, Cody Brackett of Asheville and Elijah Rich of Waynesville; and many cousins. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spina Bifida Association, 4590 MacArthur Boulevard, Suite 250, Washington, DC 20007.
