Sara Hamrick

Canton-Sara Vance Leatherwood Hamrick-88, formerly of Oakland Circle died Monday, January 3, 2003 at Pisgah Manor Nursing Home.

She was a native of Haywood County and a daughter of the late Robert Vance and Mary Reeves Leatherwood. She was the wife of the late P. V. Hamrick who died in 1974. She was a homemaker and member of Canton First Baptist Church. She was a 30 year volunteer of the Canton Chapter of the American Red Cross and a member of the Friends of the Roberson YMCA.

She is survived by one daughter, Priscilla Crumpler of Raleigh, NC, one son, Sidney Hamrick of Idaho Falls, ID, 4 half-sisters, Mary Harrison and Grace Rutledge both of Waynesville, Hazel Moody of Jacksonville, FL and Katherine Pennington of Powell, TN, a granddaughter, Sara Crumpler of Wake Forest, NC, a grandson, Matt Crumpler of Archdale, NC and one step-great-grandson, Hunter Osborne.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Wells Funeral Homes of Canton. A private service was held.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hospice of Haywood County, Home Health Bldg., 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721 or to Haywood County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1275, Canton, NC 28716.
