Sara Summers

Sara Frances Summers, age 100, died peacefully on Friday, February 14, 2014 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. She was born on July 15, 1913 in Bryson City, Tennessee and was a lifelong resident of Canton. Frances was predeceased by her sister, Bonnie Summers Strong. She is survived by two nephews, William Strong and his wife, Lyn, of Eden Prairie, MN and Robert Strong and his wife, Sue, of Craryville, NY and by two nieces, Bonnie Iannuzzi and her husband, Louis, of Southbury, CT and Elizabeth Chiocchio and her husband, Robert, of Danbury, She worked her adult life and retired from Champion International as an executive administrative assistant in the legal department. After her retirement, she worked as a volunteer for the Red Cross and the Haywood County Library. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, entertaining and always, throughout her life, the company of her family and close friends. She was a member of Canton Central United Methodist Church. Her family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff at Silver Bluff Village for the excellent care and attention she received over the past six years. A memorial graveside service will be scheduled for a time in the spring at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road.
