Powdersville, SC - Sarah Elizabeth Campbell, age 99, met her heavenly Father Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Rose Cottage at Brushy Creek. Sarah was a native of Haywood County and had lived in Powdersville since the early 70's. She was a daughter of the late George C. and Nancy Carlin Patton Haynes and was also preceded in death by her husband, Kyle Campbell who died in 1998, one daughter, Kyleen Noland; three sisters, three brothers and one grandson, Damon Noland. Sarah was an active member of the Home Demonstration Club. She was a true craftsman, seamstress and cook. Sarah was known for her homemade mints and taffy. She was a member of the Soco Gap Dance Team that clogged at the White House for the Queen of England and President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1939. Sarah and her husband returned to Washington, D.C. to perform at the opening of the F D. R. wing at the Smithsonian. She is survived by two daughters, Martha Jane Medford of Simpsonville, SC and Jewell Elizabeth Carver and her husband James of Maggie Valley; 5 grandchildren: Jori Miller and husband, Bill, Cassee Farmer and husand David, Wil Carver and wife Christine Audiss, Matthew Carver and wife Chris, Travis Medford and wife Cara, 12 great-grandchildren: Zakery and Connor Noland, Cori Mathis, Grady and Kyla-Jo Farmer, Sarah, Hannah and Catherine Carver, Grace and Rebekah Carver and Felix and Coleman Medford and 5 great-great-grandchildren: Damon Noland, Jazmyn Burton, Kyree McLean, Ja'Dyn McLean and Kanaan Carver. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, September 28, 2013 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Reverend Steve Ellis and Reverend Matthew Carver will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Noland, Wil Carver, Connor Noland, Grady Farmer, Travis Medford, Bill Miller, and David Farmer. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
