Sarah Gibson

"1931 – 2016" Canton – Sarah Rhodes "Bobbie" Gibson, 85, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Harley, Sr. and Edith Newman Rhodes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Gibson, who died in 1982 and one sister, Omajean Hoyt. She retired from Champion International with over 40 years of service as a data processor and was a member of West Canton Baptist Church. Bobbie's life was filled with love and dedication for her family and home. She is survived by two sons, Steve Gibson and wife, Lou Ella, of Crandall, Georgia, and Tommy Gibson and wife, Melanie, of Canton; one sister, Betty Jo Best of Waynesville; four brothers, Harley, Jr., Jack, and James Rhodes, all of Canton, and Bill Rhodes of Greenville, South Carolina; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend John H. Swanger, III officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
