Sarah Hipps

Sarah Nix Hipps, age 86, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at her residence. A native of Pickens County, SC, she was a daughter of the late William and Zadie McJunkin Nix. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Clinton Rayford Hipps; a son, Dr. William Levi Hipps; and a number of brothers and sisters. Sarah was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church. She is survived by a son, Jerry Hipps and his wife, Victoria, of Midway, TN; a daughter, Melinda Hipps Lanning and her husband, Bob, of Carthege; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mildred Whitted. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2011 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jack W. Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgeway Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
