Sarah Woody Rogers, age 94, died on Sunday, January 15, 2012, at Autumn Care Nursing Home. She was born on January 13, 1918, in Cataloochee Valley and was the daughter of the late Floyd William and Folsom Davis Woody. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hugh Rogers, Jr., who died in 2006; an infant son; a beloved twin sister, Mary Anne Woody; and two brothers, Jack and Bill Woody. She was co-owner of Rogers Tractor and Rogers Realty Company for more than 50 years and was a member of Clyde First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 30 years. Sarah was a volunteer with MedWest Haywood Auxiliary for the past 19 years. Sarah also enjoyed canning and gardening and was one of the oldest living survivors of Cataloochee Valley. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Anne Singleton and her husband, Dean; a son, Floyd T. Rogers and his wife, Susan, all of Clyde; a sister, Frances Johnson and her husband, Gene, of Canton; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend James Huey and Reverend Dr. T. David Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Sarah Rogers, 120 Pleasant Hill Road, Clyde.
