Sarah Ruff

Waynesville, Sarah Ruth Ruff, age 91, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Reverend Jarvis and Grace Crawford Underwood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Ruff, who died in 2007; a son, John F. Ruff; a granddaughter, April Mendola; and two brothers, Wilson and J.V. Underwood. She was a retired seamstress from Wellco and a charter member of Calvary Road Baptist Church. Her volunteer life consisted of church work, Meals-on-Wheels, and teaching Sunday-School in the nursing home. She loved gardening and flowers. Ruth held many different titles in her lifetime, but she loved being with her family the most. She is survived by one son, Jim Ruff and his wife, Zeata, of Clyde; four grandchildren, John F. Ruff, Jr., Tim Ruff, Becky Moss, and Jackie Fields; and eleven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Johnny Swanger, III officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park, with the releasing of doves. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home, and at other times, at the home of Jim and Zeata Ruff.
