Savannah Robertson

Savannah L. Robertson, age 90, died on Sunday, February 13, 2011, at Stone Creek Health & Rehab Center. She was a native of Buncombe County where she lived most of her life and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Flossie Giles Lusk. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William "Slim" Robertson, who died in 1988; her eldest son, James "Dickie" Robertson; four sisters, Euphie Bryant, Mary Surrett, Eva Lanning, and Helen Penland; and three brothers, Marion, John, and Reeves Lusk. She attended Ebenezer Baptist Church. Savannah loved gardening, canning, quilting, and being outdoors. She loved her children and grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, William "Bill" Robertson and Ralph H. Robertson; two daughters, Jessie R. Hoglen and Wanda R. Haynes; a sister, Lula Burnette; ten grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Special thanks to her special nieces, Mildred Robinson and Betty Coley and to the staffs of Stone Creek Health & Rehab Center and CarePartners Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Wyllene Skipper officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Newfound Road. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
