Scottie Thomason

Scottie Mae Stamey Thomason, age 96, died Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the daughter of the late Mack and Ella Franklin Stamey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Albert Thomason, who died in 1968; twin daughters, Frances and Francine Thomason, and another daughter, Mildred Thomason; and 12 siblings. She retired in 1978 as a nurses' aid from Crawford Nursing Home. She is survived by two daughters, Katherine Whitaker and her husband, Kenneth, and Wanda Murray and her husband, Larry, all of Canton; three sons, Lawrence "Buck" Thomason and his wife, Dorothy, Sherrill Thomason and his wife, Brenda, and Bruce Thomason and his wife, Mary, all of Canton; a sister, Rachel Thomason of Canton; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2007, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Joe Steadman and Reverend Steve Brock officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Newfound Road. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
