Selma Wade

March 18, 1927 — November 6, 2011

Selma Roena Wade, 84, of Fletcher, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2011 at her home. She was a native of Yancey County, but lived most of her life in Buncombe County. She was a daughter of the late Emmett and Dulcie Allen of Swannanoa. Selma was a graduate of Swannanoa High School.

Selma had lived in Birmingham, AL and was a member of Hunter Street Baptist Church and taught Sunday School. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and was a member of Mills Gap Baptist Church in Skyland.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Ernest, Vernon, Claude and Carson Allen and sisters, Grace Byas, Garnie Suttles, Vergie Pruitt and Myrtle Dolan.
She is survived by her husband, Garlan; sisters, Mary Lou Crowdon and Vivaleen Collins, both of Knoxville, TN; sister-in-law, Barbara Allen and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at Noon on Tuesday, November 8th, 2011 at Mills Gap Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Wilkie officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will follow at 4:00 PM in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler.
