Shaina Godfrey

Shaina Dianne Godfrey, age 27, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Mission Hospitals – Memorial Campus. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of John Buster Godfrey, Jr. and Karen Annette Pace Godfrey. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Forrest Glen Pace and John Buster Godfrey, Sr.; and an aunt, Kimbra Pace Wells. She attended Boiling Springs Baptist Church in Fletcher and was a member of Arden First Baptist Church. She had been Garden Place coordinator for alzheimers patients, whom she cared for as though they were her own family, and was currently employed by the Davies Insurance Group of Arden. Shaina had an extremely loving, outgoing, and caring personality that was infectious to all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she is survived by a son, Gavin Taylor of the home; her fiancé, Jonathan Taylor of Arden; maternal grandmother, Pat Pace of Canton; paternal grandmother, Virginia Godfrey of Hendersonville; two step sisters, Jennifer Schleicher of Union, South Carolina and Tracy Elder of Virginia; a step brother, Joseph Godfrey of Hendersonville; an aunt, Peggy Corn (Tony) of Hendersonville; an uncle, Michael Godfrey of Hendersonville; special cousins, Cody Wells of Asheville, Brandy Underwood of Etowah, and Haley Burnette of Clyde as well as several other cousins. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jonathan Blaylock and Reverend Cody Sturgill officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gavin Taylor Benefit Donation Fund c/o Wells Fargo Bank, Arden.
