Sharon Haley Blankenship, age 62, went home to be with her heavenly Father, on Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at her residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of Oberia Raines Haley of Canton and the late Ray McDonald Haley. Sharon was a 1968 graduate of Pisgah High School and St. Genevieve of the Pines. She worked for the Haywood County School System, from which she retired in 2008, with 32 years of service. Sharon enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren. She was also a member of West Canton Baptist Church. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her former husband, Billy W. Blankenship of Maggie Valley; one daughter, Keeta Blankenship and her friend, Amy Dill, of Candler; two sons, Andy Blankenship and his wife, Amy, of Adylett, North Carolina, and Ryan Blankenship and his wife, Heather, of Canton; one brother, Denny Haley and his wife, Darlene, of Canton; and two granddaughters, Hailey Rae and Maggie Ann Blankenship. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2011 at West Canton Baptist Church with the Reverend George Holley officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. Wells Funeral Home of Canton is in charge of the arrangements.
