Clyde – Shelby Jean Holder, age 82, passed away peacefully to her ‘Cabin in Gloryland’ on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, surrounded by her beloved family at home. She was a lifelong resident of Haywood County and daughter of the late Paul Sorrells and Mary Ann Robinson Sorrells. She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Sorrells Teaster.
Shelby enjoyed her dog Buttons (aka JoJo), gardening and cooking, listening to music, watching her birds and doing word puzzles. However loving and caring for her devoted husband of 67 years, Bruce J. Holder, was her overall focus. Left to cherish her memory, in addition to her husband, she leaves behind her 4 children, Lisa, Kim, Tami and Kerry Holder, 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her beloved brothers, James (Jim) T. Sorrells and Howard E. Sorrells, and their families.
A memorial service will be held in her honor at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 25, 2022 at Oak Grove Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church Fellowship Hall.
A special thanks is extended to the ‘angels here on earth’ from Haywood Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oak Grove Church Cemetery Fund or to Haywood Hospice.
The care of Mrs. Holder has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
