Canton-Sherman Jackson Goodson-69 of 73 Goodson Lane, died Wednesday, February 19, 2003 at his residence.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was a son of the late Jake and Leatha Cope Goodson. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mattie Barnett and a brother, Charles R. Goodson. He was the former owner and operator of the Pioneer Restaurant in Clyde and the Country Café in Cruso. He was a United States Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict having served aboard the USS Hector.
He is survived by one daughter, Tamara Hill and her husband Steve of MO, one son, J. D. Goodson and his wife Tammy of Bethel, one sister, Mildred G. Ridlen of Canton, 4 grandchildren; Stephanie and Kirsten Hill of MO, Ashely and Jonathon Goodson both of Bethel and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2003 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with the Reverend Wayne Sorrells officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery with military graveside rites being conducted by the VFW Post # 5202 and the American Legion Post # 47. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
