Sherrill Mcaninch

Sherrill R. McAninch, 89, of Candler, passed away on June, 23, 2009 at the VA Medical Center. He was a son of the late Elic and Mae Harkins McAninch. He was also preceded in death by his wife Pearl in 1995 and two brothers, Bryce and George McAninch.

Mr. McAninch served in the Navy, Army and Coast Guard during WWII and Korean Conflict. He had a great passion for music and enjoyed playing guitar and reading.

Survivors included his faithful companion of 15 years Connie Surrett, a sister, Frances Mae Lester of Canton, a brother, Billy Lee McAninch of Durand, MI, 24 nieces and nephews and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Faith at Forest Lawn with the Rev. Terry Penland officiating. The family will receive friends in the chapel an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the park with Military Honors provided by the Buncombe County Memorial Team.
