Sherrill Wilson

January 5, 1933 — April 18, 2010

Sherrill Leon Wilson, age 77, of Cold Mtn. Road, died Sunday, April 18, 2010 at his residence. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Bill and Blanche Payne Wilson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ben Ray and Roy Lee Wilson. Sherrill retired from Champion International with 37 years of service and was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and camping very much. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy Henson Wilson; two sons, David Wilson and Denny Wilson and his wife, Cleata, all of Candler; one daughter, Donna Wilson and her husband, Greg Taylor, of Candler; one step-granddaughter, Lori Webb; and three step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Ridgeway Baptist Church with the Reverend Jack W. Collins officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. At other times, the family will be at the home. Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Canton is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 90 Stiles Road, Canton, NC 28716.
