Shirley Burnette

"Devoted Wife" Clyde – Shirley Stamey Burnette, age 78, passed away Monday, November 30, 2015 at her residence. She was a daughter of the late Billy and Mollie Case Stamey. Shirley retired from American Enka Company with 40 years of service. After retirement, she enjoyed making crafts and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Howard Burnette; one daughter, Jeannie Chapman and her husband, Billy, of Clyde; one sister, Peggy Swink and her husband, Joe, of Canton; and one brother, Roy Stamey and his wife, Barbara, of Canton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 3, 2015 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Allen Rash and Reverend Davis Plemmons officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Haywood Regional Medical Hospice.
