Shirley Hawkins

March 22, 1947 — July 24, 2006

Hendersonville-Shirley Chapman Hawkins, age 59, of 154 Josiah Lane, Hendersonville died Saturday, July 22, 2006 at her residence. She was native of Haywood County and resided in Henderson County for the past 26 years. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Chapman. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Jesse Allen Hawkins. She was a homemaker and loved cooking, crocheting and collecting ducks. She is survived by her mother, Verna Medford Chapman of Waynesville; her husband of 42 years, William "Bill" Hawkins; one daughter, Kim McCranie and her husband, Ralph of Shelby; one son, Darrell Hawkins and his fiancé, Rebecca Dowdle of Hendersonville and her children Kasi, Shayne and Patrick; one sister, Blanche Reeves of Waynesville; one brother, Gerald Chapman of Waynesville; four grandchildren, Andy and Ashley McCranie and Joshuah and Crystal Hawkins; special friends, Patricia Middleton and Kelsey and Lorraine Middleton. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., July 25, 2006 in the Chapel of Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville with the Reverend Ronnie Jenkins and Reverend Thad Dowdle officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2006 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Bo Wierzbicki, Danny Scarborough, Sam McAbee, Charles Moody Bill Shipman and Sean Schofield.
