Shirley Safreed

Shirley Jean Safreed , age 78, of Trickle Creek Rd., passed away on Friday, December 09, 2011 at her residence. A native of Columbus, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Edgar "Sparky" and Dorothy Porter Reeves. Shirley received her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing at the Jackson School of Nursing in Miami and was a member of Lake Junaluska Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bill Safreed ; three sons, Brian Safreed of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Gary Safreed of Jacksonville, Florida, and Reverend Steve Safreed of Waynesville; one sister, Bonnie Combs of Phoenix, Arizona; one brother, James Reeves and his wife, Cindy, of Swannanoa; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A service of remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Lake Junaluska Baptist Church with the Reverend James Huey officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville is in charge of the arrangements.
