Shirley Scott

Shirley Ann Scott, age 72, of the Beaverdam Community, died on Monday, January 30, 2012, at MedWest Haywood. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late George Taylor and Madgeline Carver Scott. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Edward Scott. Shirley worked for Family Dollar Store in Canton for many years and was a member of Beaverdam United Methodist Church and the Methodist women. She is survived by two sisters, Georgia Mae Ledford of Asheville, and Martha Jean Hall and her husband, Grady, of Canton; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2012, at Beaverdam United Methodist Church with the Reverend Billy W. Cranfield officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beaverdam United Methodist Church, c/o David Ashe, 1347 Beaverdam Road, Canton, NC 28716 or to one's favorite charity.
