"Loving Wife and Aunt" Clyde-Shirley Irene Snyder Sharp, 91, of the Thompson Cove Community, Clyde passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at The Homestead. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Jerry and Anne Thompson Snyder. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin and Lawrence Snyder, and three sisters, Pauline Bolden, Sybil Ferguson and Sue Jones. She retired from American Enka Corporation with more than 40 years of service. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert Sharp of Clyde, a sister, Betty Haynes of Aiken, SC and three nieces and five nephews to whom she was very special, as well as a number of great nieces and great nephews and many friends. Known by her family as a friend and giver, she raised two nieces and a nephew, took care of her late mother for a number of years and was always there to help any family member. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Nations officiating. Nephews will be pall bearers. Interment will be in Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Gardens following the service. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
